This is my first year as the art teacher at SASMS. I just moved to Charleston last year. Before that I taught for three years in Darlington County School District. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing and a Masters of Arts in Teaching.

This year I will teach the young artists SASMS about artists and art forms around we world. We have already studied artists from SC and soon we will begin learning about Dia de los Murertos in Mexico. Later on this year we will explore ancient and contemporary arts of Africa and create artwork to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

This Week's Updates & Assignments

Congratulations to the winners of the SASMS Dia de los Muertos Art Contest! Their work is currently in the display case at SASMS.

I am currently working on the details for the next SASMS art contest. In the meantime, please look at the resources section for more information about SC and Charleston county art contests.

Trash and plastic is a major threat to our oceans. To bring attention to it NOAA holds an annual Marine Debris art contest. More information can be found at the following link.
